Hi there,
Thanks for the reply... It has definitely given me another boost to go and get them done (another was falling asleep with my lenses in and waking up to find my eyelids stuck together. uck).
Good to know that its practically impossibly to get blinded though - I still think I'd prefer to get one eye done at a time, but i'll see how I go.
I just can't wait to actually wake up in the morning and see further than about 6" from my face!!
Thanks again x

Hi Alison
I had LASIK. Apparently LASEK is more for mild-moderate short sightedness. I didn't get an option anyway - I had to have wavefront LASIK. My eyesight was -7.5 and -8.5 I think. I was scared about them blinding me - but that's pretty much impossible as, if you twitch or anything during the procedure, then it just switches itself off and starts again when you're ready. it;s very computerised and high tech. I read about the night-time haloes etc. I can't say I've noticed a difference. I did look and think "oh there are haloes around the car lights" but I think I must always have had them to be honest. I've driven lots at night since in all sorts of weather and not had a problem at all. Certainly I've not noticed any difference to wearing my lenses at all except for the bliss of not having dry eyes and not having to take them out at night.....
I was utterly terrified especially onthe day of my surgery, if I could have got my money back I probably would have. I cried and whimpered my way through it and was totally pathetic. But I don't even care now because it is soooooo brilliant. Seriously. Go get it done.

Re:laser eye surgery
Hi, I came across your blog via NHSBlogDoc, and read a fair bit in to it, discovering that you've had laser-eye surgery. I was wondering if you had time, could you let me know what sort you had? I want to have it done but I'm absolutely terrified that they'll blind me, or at the least, I'll have halos around streetlights at night or something. Did you have lasik or lasek?
Sorry to bother you, I'm just talking to anybody and everybody about this before I take the plunge and do it... I just can't face another 15 years of contact lenses..
Thanks a lot
Alison
